“The water savings are particularly important in this region. Traditional power plants use a lot of water to generate electric power – wind generators use essentially none. This White Deer Wind Ranch® will allow Xcel Energy to avoid using about 160 million gallons of water annually.” - Gary Gibson, Xcel Energy State Vice President, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Kansas
Buyers of electricity from Cielo developed projects
With many states now requiring renewable portfolio standards, utility companies have been rapidly moving to provide a diverse generation mix for their customers with a green energy component. Wind power provides a competitive alternative to other non-renewable sources of energy.
A renewable portfolio standard is a state policy requiring electricity providers to obtain a minimum percentage of their power from renewable energy resources by a certain date. Currently there are 24 states–plus the District of Columbia–that have RPS policies in place. Together these states account for more than half of the electricity sales in the United States.
Cielo Wind Power has a proven track record of delivering more than 1,148 MW of renewable resources to our partner utilities since 1999. As experienced developers, the Cielo Management Team is well-versed in negotiating all aspects of development for delivering renewable power to the market from negotiating Power Purchase Agreements to the point of interconnect.
