Cielo Wind Power Hosts Welcome Event at AWEA Conference
Houston, Texas– Cielo Wind Power, LP of Austin, Texas was proud to welcome AWEA conference attendees with a sunset concert featuring legendary rockabilly/honky-tonk band Two Tons of Steel Monday, on June 2nd. The event benefitted the Greater Houston Area Boys and Girls Club and was held at Discovery Green, a 12-acre park across from the George R. Brown Convention Center. Cielo was proud to donate a check for $2,000 to the Director of Operations Mr. Everett Curl from the Greater Houston Area Boys and Girls Club.
“We were excited to help host wind power guests from around the world and show them some real Texas hospitality” said Walter Hornaday, President of Cielo Wind Power. “We want to tip our hat to AWEA for holding the conference this year in our great state.”
Cielo provide traditional Texas fare and beverages. Cielo also entertained guests with our mascot “Cowboy,” a 1,700 hundred pound longhorn steer, which allowed over 200 attendees to mount up for souvenir pictures for old-fashioned Wild West entertainment.
Texas band Two Tons of Steel might be described as “equal parts Elvis Presley and Elvis Costello with a liberal dose of Buddy Holly and a dollop of The Ramones.” It has a one-of-a-kind sound that bandleader and front man Kevin Geil likes to call “countrybilly.”
Cielo is a private closely held company based in Austin, Texas that has developed 25% of all installed wind capacity in Texas.
