Edison Mission Group has bought the Wildorado Wind Ranch in northern Texas, adding to its renewable-energy portfolio.
EMG purchased the project, which is set to begin construction this year, from Cielo Wind Power LP, which will retain a minority interest.
When the 161-megawatt project is finished, the electrcity produced will be sold to Southwestern Public Service, a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, under a long-term power purchase agreement.
Commercial operations are expected to begin in 2007.
With the buy, EMG has a national wind portfolio of 477 megawatts at 10 sites in Iowa, Minnesota, New Mexico and Texas.
