A Technological Leader
Cielo Wind Power’s Technology Department is a team of engineers, meteorologists, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialists, information technology experts and highly-trained field technicians certified by the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE). The team is dedicated to accurately predicting long-term wind speeds, wind roses, air density, turbulence intensity and wind shear. The forecasting data is utilized during development and construction to ensure the long-term success of a utility scale wind power plant.
Cielo’s Technical Team:
- Has erected more than 100 meteorological towers for wind resource evaluation.
- Has access to a network of company wind measurements dating from 1996.
- Uses wireless Edge modems for remote field measurement.
- Has real-time data access and provides quick, efficient troubleshooting.
- Produces efficient and accurate data sets through applications and standardized procedures.
- Uses the correlation of on-site meteorological towers and long-term reference sites.
- Determines the appropriate turbine layout for a site to maximize energy output.
- Uses numerical modeling to simulate wind conditions and generate high-resolution wind maps.
